RELATIONSHIP TO STORM
The MOV started as the tag team of "Mr. Fantastic" Johnny Storm and Griff Truxell in the Survival Wrestling Association (SWA). This was a team up born out of necessity, as Johnny Storm was a new face among the SWA faithful, but had already garnered a great deal of heat with the tumultuous locker room. Griff Truxell, already having tusseled with some of these characters, took a liking to Storm, and saw the potential to use Storms financial resources to help him get out of trouble in exchange for him playing the part of muscle to the fledgling wrestler.
When SWA closed its doors, the two took their talents to the Gladiator Wrestling Association (GWA), but this incarnation of the team wouldn't last long, as Griff found himself on the wrong side of the law, and rather than sticking around to see if Storm's lawyers could fix it, went on the run across the country. Without his wing man, Johnny Storm conducted research on the GWA roster, and found someone else to fill that role in Alek Cage. Cage was a degenerate gambler who owed a great sum of money to the Vegas casinos, and was easily persuaded by Storm to be his henchman with the promise of paying those debts. At this time, Storm was working through the ranks, and had earned the ire of former SWA Alumni, Chris Damm. The two superstars would become inadvertent Legion Tag Team Champions, which culminated with an electrified steel cage match which saw Damm defeat Johnny Storm thanks to outside interference from The Circle.
Storm would feed Alek Cage to Damm several times after this encounter, while he dealt with the encroaching Circle feud he was cultivating. Cage, tired of being a punching back for Chris Damm, and deciding that the pay off wasn't worth it, abandoned Storm and the fed, causing Storm to have to look elsewhere for help. He would find it in an unlikely source, another pretty boy born into money, Sebastian Bock.
While Storm re-engaged his feud with Damm to determine who would be the first ever GWA Gladiator Champion, Bock went on to win the Olympic Championship, feuding with The Circle and other members of the roster. In the end, Storm would lose the feud, and Damm would go on to be the champion. This put a strain on the relationship between Johnny Storm and Sebastian Bock, as this loss put Storm in contention for the Olympic Championship. The two agreed to try and maintain their friendship, but in the weeks leading up to the championship ladder match on PPV, the two began to dig into each other, and their relationship imploded. The match concluded with Storm taking the Olympic Championship from Bock, but at the cost of injury, which sidelined the superstar for several months. Effectively, the Methods of Violence was no more.
Storm eventually made a triumphant return, in short order becoming the Maximus Champion, and then a month later gaining his ultimate prize, the Gladiator Championship. It was around this time that Anton Rayge forged his Brotherhood in an attempt to gain the attention of GWA brass. Eventually the stable was able to gain the Gladiator Champion's attention, and in a plot twist, revealed that Johnny Storm and his cohort Jakob Grimes were now apart of The Brotherhood. The alliance only lasted for a little over a month before during an eight man tag match pitting the GWA Faithful, Griff Truxell, Alek Cage, Sebastian Bock, and Odyssey against The Brotherhood, Anton Rayge, Joey Jackson, Marcus Gaines, and Jakob Grimes. Every man in this match, save for Odyssey, had a previous or current relationship with the Gladiator Champion, so when he made his appearance to disrupt the match, it was no surprise. What was a surprise, was when Storm turned on The Brotherhood by blasting Anton Rayge in the face with the championship belt.
From there, it was revealed that Johnny had put the band back together, and this fourth version of the MOV was born. It included all former associates in Griff Truxell, Alek Cage, and Sebastian Bock while including Storm's new associate, Jakob Grimes. The team would have devastating backstage encounters with The Brotherhood, where each team tried to escalate the violence in each run in. This all culminated with a Gladiator Championship match at GWA's PPV event, To The Max, between Storm and Rayge. Storm would go on to win that match to retain the title, and subsequently causing The Brotherhood to end their fellowship. The MOV lasted for a few weeks after that, but eventually, Storm would put them to rest as well by having Jakob Grimes destroy the other three men. The reign of The Methods of Violence was finally at an end.
